Gadzooks

Another concept for the character of a dark knight. I like this chap, I think he looks like a pompous ass. Though I can't decide whether I want the character to be dark and foreboding or more appealing and comical.
Can't think any more I MUST go out and buy a curry

Wooo spooky

Just scribbling down concepts as I go...think this project might aim to be somewhat dark. Need to work on putting a bit more depth into it though methinks.

New Project

Something scrappy and quick to try and get out of a bit of a slump. We've got a nice shiny new project, which means we've got a nice shiny new brief to write, and it looks probable that I'm going to try and make some kind of book (again). Working title I have at the moment is
"Lucy and the Dark Knight."
In which a little girl teaches an embodiment of evil how to LOVE.

maybe.

get the dettol GET THE DETTOL

One of the things about contemporary paranoia I hate the most is the fuss people make today about bacteria. Kill 99.9% of bacteria or your children will be RAPED or something like that. And parents can't seem to realise that keeping their childen in houses sprayed and cleansed bacteria free actually does their immune systems more harm than good, their white blood cells never get a chance to experience the things they need to develop properly. Go make your child play in the mud, it's GOOD FOR THEM

Also, fun fact: one of the textures used in this image is the floor of the illustration toilets at uni. woop

The truth is out there

What does it say on the tin

Organic food is another thing that gets my goat. Or rather it's the people that want to associate some kind of guilt with not buying food that is "organic". What's organic really mean anyway? On several packets of organic food I've picked up, it says nothing more than "this has been farmed organically". Also it's no secret that many supermarkets label a lot of exactly identical fruit and vegetable produce as both organic and non. I can't remember where I read it, but the best way I've heard it described is: "organic food is a tax on the gullible."
To be honest, I just want people to get down off their high horse. Or at least, think about the horse that they're sitting on. With a little touch of ignorance, anything can be called a moral high ground.

Don't worry I'll swat it

Since my project is making fun of people's hysteria, this one was intended somewhat as a joke, but I actually found out that DARPA (Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency - responsible for the development of technology for use by the US military) has had an ongoing project in which certain control chips and electrodes are implanted into insects (mostly been tested on moths) in the pupal stages, which become integrated into their bodies as they grow. Remote stimulation of these electrodes will therefore stimulate the muscles in the insect, and by this method, their movement can literally be controlled. There's talk of using these insects for things such as survelliance, reconnissance, and even biological warfare.

Omega 3's one of these things in the public eye that I really dislike, mostly because I don't believe that it actually exists. It just appeared suddenly one day in the news back when the media was having a great time covering the obesity wars a couple of years back. It's on adverts everywhere, "fish fingers, with omega 3!". But what these adverts never do is actually tell us what omega 3 actually does. For example, you see an advert for something with calcium in it, and they Can't Shut Up about how calcium is great for growing bones in children. But an advert that's got omega 3 in it? They just say it's there, never what it does. And I think they never say what it does because either it just doesn't actually do anything, or because it actually doesn'texist.
Ughhhhh

Bad pig no bacon

I find this style a bit easier to draw in. Over the top is the way to go, perhaps.
